Panzer Tracts 1-1: Panzerkampfwagen I by Jentz

Significant amounts of information have been lost on the early Panzerwaffe, but there are a few scraps left.

By the end of 1934, Deutsche Edelstahlwerke had delivered the armor components for:

218 hulls
54 superstructures
54 turrets

M.A.N. finished their first chassis in December 1934.

However, complete Panzer I Ausf A's were delayed until early 1935, due to difficulties involved in fitting the superstructures to the hulls.

Heer vehicle inventories show that they had the following Panzer I Ausf A's in their inventories:

If we assume that technical difficulties prevented the delivery of the first completed Panzer I Ausf A to the Heer until around 1 February 1935; the following calculations result:

According to Jentz, records haven't survived showing when exactly the first Panzer I Ausf B was completed, but he suspected it was around July or August of 1936.

By 1 October 1936, 52 out of 403 Panzer IBs had been delivered, with the remainder to be delivered by 1 May 1937. On 8 May 1937 a report was issued that said out of the existing contracts, 58 still had not been delivered yet, making total deliveries at that point about 345.

Using the above information, we get:
