An Imperial Rank Scheme utilizing Subtractive Colors

Using a simple “subtractive” scheme to mimic the US Army's “Silver outranks Gold” heraldry significantly simplifies the way the Imperial system is structured from a rank bar designer's point of view, allowing you to go all the way from 2nd Lieutenant to Surface Marshall without having to combine/simplify the rank structure to stay within the ANH-imposed 6 bar width limit. It also opens up hilarity at the O-1 and O-2 levels regarding Army/Navy/Civilian rankings, as you can see below:
