This tool calculates payments for loans. For ships; back in 1987 (about the time when WEG was doing their work on the SW core game), the interest rate for large commercial loans was around 8 to 12% APR. Down payments were between 12.5% to 25% (for high risk cases) of total vessel costs. Loan lengths were from 8 to 15 years or as long as the vessel's projected remaining economic life.

NOTES: Calculations use standard amortization formulas. Weekly payments approximate 52 weeks per year. All figures are in Imperial Credits (IC).
